Testosterone

TESTOSTERONE FOR WOMEN

Total hormone therapy includes restoring the natural hormone balance of all hormones. Testosterone is the third hormone that comes from the ovary. The body can make testosterone and estradiol from DHEA, a hormone that is secreted by the adrenal gland.

Testosterone is of major importance for women because it plays a critical role in emotional and physical health. We are specifically referring to bioidentical testosterone, not the synthetic analogs available.

The benefits of testosterone for women include:

  • Enhanced well-being, energy, strength, and endurance
  • Improved body composition and bone density
  • Better libido and sexual health
  • Decrease in visceral fat
  • Maintenance of muscle mass
  • Improved skin texture
  • Less wrinkles, fat deposition, and cellulite
  • Strengthening of bone and the prevention of osteoporosis

TESTOSTERONE FOR MEN

Testosterone is traditionally known as a male hormone primarily for sexual prowess. It has been shown to be linked to healthier lives. It is the preferred treatment for low testosterone (“low T”), a condition common in aging men, or men experiencing a drop in testosterone for other reasons. Testosterone therapy helps to reduce obesity, raise lean body mass, normalize blood clotting, and increase HDL (the good cholesterol). This all lowers the prevalence of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Testosterone can also prevent cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s Disease even better than estrogen.

Men who receive testosterone therapy report they feel sexier, stronger, and healthier. Testosterone can restore muscle tone and improve stamina. Testosterone can restore healthy sexual excitement and desire, which in turn can improve mood and overall well-being.

HORMONE THERAPY IN LGBTQ POPULATION

Testosterone therapy (TT) is a type of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and genderqueer (LGBTQ) populations as treatment for gender dysphoria (GD), body uneasiness, and sexual dysfunction. VRC does not provide services for gender-affirming hormone therapy. We will happily refer you to qualified professionals if that is a service that you are seeking.

We do however, treat the LGBTQ population with hormone replacement therapy for aging, as we do in the non-LGBTQ population. We welcome all persons/couples interested in hormone replacement therapy for changing hormone levels associated with the aging process.

VRC will help you feel better and improve your quality of life with hormone balancing. Contact us now for your appointment!
