General Nutrition Tips
- Establish a diet based on real, whole, plant-based, and nonprocessed foods
- Go organic whenever possible
- If you eat meat or fish, get it from sources that have been wild-caught or organically fed without hormones and antibiotics, otherwise referred to as “responsibly raised”.
- Choose seasonal, local produce
- Consume raw, steamed, or stir-fried vegetables
- Graze: eat regularly throughout the day (5-6 meals)
- Eat slowly so your brain can catch up to your stomach and communicate when your body has had enough
- Think “healthy” at the grocery store: shop along the store perimeter
- Choose “Extra Virgin” olive oil and cook with coconut oil or hemp oil only
- Use discretion when buying “fat-free” products – they are usually loaded with sugars
- Limit caffeine to 1 cups per day
- Eat 25-50 grams of fiber per day
- Wash fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating
- Avoid High-fructose corn syrup
- Select baked over fried
- Cook at low temperatures
- Add lemon to your water instead of drinking juice
- Snack on seeds
